Last Swiss rifle match of the season…

Today was the last chance to shoot for record in the 2016 Swiss rifle season in Bucks County. My 1943 Karabiner K31 has performed admirably. As always, it is up to me to meet the challenge.

11-12-1

We always start with the Swiss qualifier, the Obligatorisches Programm. Five rounds slow fire on the A5 target.

The second half is fired on the very difficult B4 target. It is scored as shown below.

Even with the “1” down south, I qualified.

Once qualifications are done, we move on to the Feldschiessen. This stage goes faster as it progresses. It starts with six rounds slow fire and then three rounds timed fire. All my shots were in the black but a bit high.

11-12-f1

A minor sight adjustment and I was ready for the second half. Three rounds timed fire followed by six more rapid fire. A pair of “3”s and the rest all went in the “4” ring. A total of 63 points earning me another Feldschiessen certificate!

The day concluded with the Einselwettschiessen. Ten rounds slow fire on the A10 target using scoring rings 1 through 10. All was going well until a pair of 6’s high and right dashed any hope of reward. Three points shy of the cut off! Oh well, next year is right around the corner….
