Being the Frugal Armorer, I pulled the soft point hunting bullets from a bunch of .303 British factory ammo I had laying around.

My intent was to reload the primed brass with 38.5grs. of IMR-4895 powder and Lehigh Defense 150gr Solid Match FMJ-BT bullets for competition use.

Half of the hunting ammunition I had was Winchester-Western. I pulled the bullets and dumped the powder. As a normal check, I dropped each case into a Wilson gauge. Each case slid fully into the gauge under gravity. Good to go.

The rest of the cartridges were Remington-Peters. Not a single one passed the gauge test! So now I will remove the decapping pin from the resizing die on my reloading press. Then I can resize the cases while leaving the primers intact.
